George Thompson in his book “Faded Footprints” says that there are seven smelters along the creek. We were able to locate a couple of them fairly easily and a few interesting markings. For there to be so many smelters here there must have been some significant mining operations close by, but as to my knowledge, nothing has been uncovered.

This one is still in fairly good condition and is one of the larger ones along the creek.

This is looking down into the same smelter.

Unfortunately, this one has been torn apart by prospectors and is in very poor condition.

Carvings

These trees do not appear to be very old but have an interesting Spanish quality to them.

I thought this was interesting. I am not quite sure if it was originally carved or just a natural occurrence, but thought it was worth sharing.
