While exploring Slate Canyon many years ago we discovered an old mine and ore cart that was mostly buried just off the main trail up the canyon. The mine entry was collapsed but partially open, and being less intelligent than we are today, we decided to squeeze in and explore.

The picture above is taken from the top of one of the many collapsed sections of the mine. We were able to make our way over each cave-in and continue exploring.

The mine we explored is likely the same mine reported in this article.

With so many good assays reported from that canyon, it leads one to wonder if there aren’t more hidden silver or gold veins waiting to be discovered.
