This mine was discovered in the 1930’s by Clarence Mecham from information given him of an Old Indian. The family worked for years in cleaning out and exploring the old shaft but still has not uncovered the original vein worked. The owner of this mine is up there every year, and continues the work still to this day.

The “Pine Mine” map. Mecham believed that this was the mine indicated on the old map.

The remains of a cabin nearby built by the Mecham family.

This is what remains of the old sluice box. Built right into the creek it would work well when the water is diverted into it or runs at a higher rate.

“ORO 1856” is barely visible in this old pine tree. Many claim that this was carved after the original one was pushed over.
